Touring atlas at 1:250,000 in an A5 spiral-bound format of the three protected areas of north-western Tanzania – Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Lake Manyara National Park, plus coverage of the adjoining Masai-Mara Nature Reserve in Kenya. Also provided are street plans, photos of fauna and flora, etc.
The atlas, published by Harms Verlag renowned for their coverage of Tanzania and its tourist destinations, provides an excellent presentation of the local landscape through contours at 100m intervals with spot heights and relief shading, plus colouring and/or graphics to indicate forests, bush land, swamps, salt flats, craters, lava fields, etc. Road network includes unpaved tracks and indicates seasonal routes. Symbols show different types of tourist accommodation (hotels, lodges, camps, campsites and hostels), park gates and information points, viewpoints, petrol supplies, etc. The maps have a 20km UTM grid. The index includes separate lists of tourist attractions and accommodation, plus of facilities in the national parks. An enlargement at 1:120,000 covers the Ngorongoro Crater in greater detail.
Also provided are street plans of Arusha and Mwanza in Tanzania, plus central Nairobi and Mombasa in Kenya (all outside the coverage area of the road section), annotated with tourist accommodation and various facilities. Colour photos of 52 examples of local fauna and flora give their names in English, Latin, Swahili and German. The atlas also includes a map of the Greater Serengeti Ecosystem showing animal migration routes at different seasons, plus an English / Swahili / German phrase book. Map legend and all the text include English. The atlas is printed on high quality paper.
