It has come to our attention that a third party, who are not affiliated with Stanfords in any way, have been impersonating an employee to contact authors. Many of the authors contacted are based in the USA, and are told that Stanfords are buying 25 copies of their book for a store display or Book of the Month promotion.

Stanfords does not have an employee named Christina Moore or Luna Saunders, and +44 20 3098 2252 is not our phone number.

Some things to consider

• Stanfords is not a publisher - we neither print nor publish books.
• We will never ask for payment from you in order to stock your books or products in our shop.
• As a travel and map specialist, there are lots of genres of books that we simply do not stock. This third party has been contacting all different types of authors, whose work we would not take for the shop.
• We source the majority of our titles from publishers and distributors, and very rarely stock self-published books.
• The names provided above are not exhaustive, just the most common.
• Stanfords staff will only email you from email addresses ending in @stanfords.co.uk

If you are unsure at all, be wary of providing any personal information. If you are contacted by somone saying they are from Stanfords or you are concered about the legitamacy of a call/ email please get in touch with us via [email protected]
