Personal Information of Children

Stanfords does not knowingly solicit personal information from children or send them requests for personal information. Although visitors of all ages may navigate through our website, we do not intentionally collect personal information from those under the age of 16. If, following a notification by a parent or guardian, or discovery by other means, a child under 16 has been improperly registered on our site by using false information, we will cancel the child's account and delete the child's personal information from our records.

How we will use the information about you?


We use your personal information in a number of different ways, depending on the type of information provided. You do not have to provide this personal information but if you don't, you may not be able to purchase goods from us, we may not be able to provide certain services and you are unlikely to receive our optimal overall customer experience.

Stanfords Passport and Other Marketing

Promotional communications

Stanfords uses your personal data for electronic marketing purposes (with your consent) and may send you postal mail to update you on the latest Stanfords offers.

Stanfords aims to update you about products & services which are of interest and relevance to you as an individual.

You have the right to opt out of receiving promotional communications at any time, by:

  1. changing marketing preferences via your Stanfords account.
  2. making use of the simple “unsubscribe” link in emails.
  3. contacting Stanfords via the contact channels set out in this Policy.

Stanfords Passport

If you are a member of Stanfords Passport, we may collect data directly from you, as well as analysing your browsing and purchasing activity, both on-line and in-store, and your responses to marketing communications. The results of this analysis, together with other demographic data, allows us to ensure that we contact you with information on products and offers that are relevant to you. To do so, we use software and other technology (automated processing).

Web Banner Advertising

If you visit our websites, you may receive personalised banner advertisements whilst browsing other websites. Any banner advertisements you see will relate to products you have viewed whilst browsing our websites on your computer or other devices.

These advertisements are provided by Stanfords via market leading specialist providers using ‘cookies’ placed on your computer or other devices (see further information on the use of cookies in our Cookie Policy). You can remove or disable cookies at any time - see below for further information.

Sharing data with third parties

Our service providers and suppliers

In order to make certain services available to you, we may need to share your personal data with some of our service partners. These include IT, delivery and marketing service providers.

Stanfords only allows its service providers to handle your personal data when we have confirmed that they apply appropriate data protection and security controls. We also impose contractual obligations on service providers relating to data protection and security, which mean they can only use your data to provide services to Stanfords and to you, and for no other purposes.

How long do we keep your data?


We'll hold on to your information for as long as you have your account with Stanfords, or as long as is needed for us to be able to provide the relevant goods or services to you. Stanfords general retention policy is to retain information for 6 years.

In some circumstances, such as to meet our legal or regulatory obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, or enforce our terms and conditions, we may hold on to your personal information after we’ve finished providing services to you, or for longer than our general retention policy.

Your rights over your information


You have the following rights:
